Did you know that Michigan ranks 44th in the nation for public defense spending, behind Alabama and Georgia?¹

Did you know that Michigan residents are routinely tried in district courts without access to any legal counsel?²

These are just a few of the issues with the public defense system here in our state.  The net results of this system is people being wrongfully convicted for crimes that they did not commit, while the real criminals go free.

The Michigan Campaign for Justice is fighting for a fair and effective public defense system in Michigan that meets nationally recognized standards.  The Prophetic Integrity Mission Area Team of the Michigan Conference United Church of Christ endorses Michigan Campaign for Justice and their work here in our state.
